Diving The gray quarry

Since the Gray Quarry is not a staffed facility divers must sign waivers and pay daily dive fees through a partnering dive shop.

Making Reservations to Dive

Gray Quarry is a non‐staffed facility. Dive reservations are made through partnering dive shops. Please call a shop to schedule use of the quarry, sign waivers, pay the dive fee and obtain gate access code. The gate code is changed randomly. The fee is $15 per day for daily unlimited diving. All fees go to maintaining quarry and new site improvements. Monthly and annual passes are also available for $75 and $300 plus tax. A donation box is available in the staging area for those who would like to contribute to the work of the Gray Quarry.

Guidelines & Safety Information

  • Premises may only be entered through the designated main gate entrance at 169 Buckingham Rd.
  • The gate should be locked when no one is on premises. The last person out should lock the gate. The gate should NEVER be locked when anyone is diving on premises.
  • All guests must sign the appropriate liability waiver and pay all appropriate fees. This should be arranged with local dive shop.
  • All certified divers are expected to dive according to their certifying / training organizations safe diving practices and guidelines and should not exceed their level of training or level of comfort. Solo diving is not permitted without proper training and use of redundant air supply.
  • Guests must present a valid diving certification or be in the process of receiving a diving certification from an accompanying qualified diving instructor.
  • Guests under 18 years of age must always be accompanied by a responsible and dive‐certified adult, who must signify acceptance of responsibility by co‐signing their liability waiver.
  • Children under 14 years of age should be under constant supervision by their co‐signer, both in and out of the water. The co‐signer cannot go diving while the child is left unattended.
  • Gray Quarry is a facility expressly designed for scuba diving. Scuba training uses closely associated skills such as skin diving, snorkeling and swimming, but the Gray Quarry is not a facility for swimming.
  • Animals are discouraged unless on a leash and under constant supervision. Service animals cannot be left unattended.
  • Guests are responsible for their own gear and valuables. We have a lost and found bin in the bus.
  • Tables in staging area and at the top of the hill are available on first come first serve basis. Only occupy the minimum number of tables that you and your fellow divers need. Please share space as needed.
  • Parking on the access ramp for an extended period of time is discouraged. Please use access ramp only to unload and load equipment.
  • Please keep dressing room in bus and at the top of the hill clear of gear and dirt.
  • Access to and from the water must be kept clear at all times. Please keep docks clear of gear except when entering and leaving the water.
  • Use only the designated water entry points for your safety.
  • Unattended scuba tanks should be kept horizontal and stable at ground level.
  • Observe good buoyancy practices to avoid stirring up silt. Keep fins, stage bottles, lights, cameras, and yourself off the bottom so that others may enjoy the visibility. Several parts of the quarry are also fish nesting areas. Please help do your part to avoid disturbing the eggs.
  • Use caution when diving around underwater vehicles and attractions.
  • Use lift bags for responsible practice only. Do not move the underwater artifacts.
  • Non‐diving companions may not enter the water at any time, regardless of depth.
  • No motorized water vehicles on or under the water with the exception of underwater scooters. Other water vehicles must be approved in advance by Gray Quarry.
  • No swimming. You may snorkel, but you must have a flotation device such as a BC or a PFD.
  • No climbing on, rappelling down, and jumping off of the cliffs.
  • No fishing permitted under any circumstances. Gray Quarry is a snorkeling/diving/free diving/training facility only! Fishing line is an entrapment hazard, and the fish are for diver's underwater enjoyment.
  • No hunting, trapping, chasing, feeding, or otherwise disturbing the wildlife. This includes both underwater and above‐water species.
  • No alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs are allowed on the site.
  • No use of firearms on the premises.
  • No portable compressors or cascade systems of any type are allowed.
  • No solicitation of goods or services to patrons, unless approved by advance submission to Board Of Directors.
